High Thickness Filler Primer for 3D PRINTING and TEXTURED Surfaces

With the popularity of 3D printing, we saw the need for a primer that can cover up and smooth out those common printing lines. So, our laboratory developed this high thickness acrylic 2K primer. With only a sprayed paint thickness of up to 1 mm, this white primer is applied on a 3D printed object or on a textured surface and then it is sanded smooth to create a paint ready surface. The primer can also be used for many commercial and industrial projects where a textured surface needs to be smoothed out.

You can see in the LEFT picture the 3D printing lines that are a common problem for printed objects. On the RIGHT is the same painted object using our 3D Filler Primer and finished with our Aurora Color-Changing Paint Effect.

Filler Primer and AURORA Paint Effect

The key features of the SV1607AM High Thickness Primer include:

• Eliminate printing lines with one thicker layer (up to 1 mm) of paint allowing 3D printing at a faster speeds
• Creates a paint ready surface for the application of any paint or a Cromas special paint effect
• The paint also strengthens the surface while enhancing the appearance
• The difference between this primer and wood fillers or a car body filler is the resin. This is an acrylic resin that maintains its elasticity even after the paint has cured
• Due to the high thickness paint layer, this primer creates an even surface on substrates that are textured or uneven
• The primer has direct adhesion to many PLA filaments along with ABS and ABS-PC plastics

After the primed surface is sanded smooth, the surface is now paint ready. Apply any paint color or any of our special effects paints for a beautiful finish. One paint effect that is very popular is our EROS SOFT TOUCH paint that gives the surface a rubbery soft feel with a matte finish.

Here are several BEFORE and AFTER examples of 3D printed objects where we sprayed and then sanded the High Thickness 3D primer. We finished the pieces with our Shiny Metal Metallic paint effect to give it an elegant effect.

To test this transforming primer, we suggest to order a sample kit. The sample kit includes 1 kg of the primer with paint hardener and paint thinner to prepare for spraying. This can primer will cover a 1-2 m2 area.
